Season Schedule
The Core Outdoor season for U5-U14 teams consists of two “halves”, Fall and Spring. The Fall season runs September up to the first week of November. We return to the same teams in April and play through May.
Fall and Spring each consist of 8 games, held on Saturdays at Jackson Park (near 63rd St and Lake Shore Drive). Game times are between 8:30a and 11:30a. Specific team schedules will be posted on the website at the start of the season.
The Winter Indoor season typically runs in January and February at the Nichols Park gym. Registration for this program is separate from the core Fall/Spring program.
Fees
The fee for the Fall/Spring outdoor program is $185 with a discount for siblings at $175. This cost includes 16 games (fall and spring), weekly training sessions, a uniform, a basic photo package and a trophy at the end of the year. Register by July 31st to receive $25 ($10 for Playground) off your registration!
The fee for the AYSO Playground program is $70 for 6 Saturdays in Jackson Park.
The fee for the Winter Indoor program is $100 for 8 Saturdays of skills & scrimmages.
In addition, there is a $20 annual membership fee. This fee goes to the National AYSO office and is non-refundable.
Registration Process & Team Formation
All players must pre-register online, through the regional website. Please complete all parent and player questions and submit payment to register your player for the season. Parents should also complete volunteer information at this time (see below for more information re: volunteering).
After the region receives your player's registration and payment, team assignments are made by division coordinators. Teams are divided by age based on the player’s age as of September 1. We currently have the following divisions, where “U” stands for Under: U5 Coed, U6 Coed, U8 Coed & U8 Girls, U10 Coed, and U12/14 Coed. A coach will contact you with details about the practice schedule and team needs.
AYSO believes in the benefits of “short-sided” play, where for each age division we intentionally adjust the roster sizes and the number of players on the field to less than the standard 11 v 11, until children reach our oldest age division. This allows players to develop skills progressively and get lots of touches on the ball.
Training Sessions
Team coaches will lead players in weekly training sessions, in addition to the weekly game. The Under 5 players have a training session on Saturday morning for 30 minutes before the 30-minute match. U6 and U8 teams train one day a week for 45-60 minutes, while U10 and older teams may practice twice a week. The practice fields (for all but U5) are on the Midway Plaisance (59th St) between Kimbark and Blackstone. The coach will work with his/her own schedule and then coordinate with families to find practice times that will work best for the squad.
Everyone Volunteers
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) brings families together through soccer in nearly 1,000 local leagues. At the regional level, the program is all volunteer run. The important adults in our players’ lives contribute to the program as coaches, referees, field set-up assistants or event coordinators. You and your child will enjoy the sport together. The national resources provide the training and structure to make your volunteer efforts successful and enjoyable. We also require adults to complete a volunteer application. The national headquarters conducts background checks so that all our children can play in a safe environment.
